Volkswagen Virtus GT Line teased ahead of India launch

Volkswagen is gearing up to unveil its new Virtus sedan in India on March 8. In the latest development, the company has shared a teaser video of the GT Line model of the car.The new Virtus is a facelifted version of the car that has been on sale in South America since 2018.It will be offered in standard and GT Line variants.

The Volkswagen Virtus will replace the Vento, which is set to exit production soon. Dubbed “The New Global Sedan,” it will be the fourth car to be based on the MQB A0 IN platform.In the global market, Indian customers will be the first to receive the car. It will take on rivals such as SKODA SLAVIA, Hyundai Verna, and Honda City.

Exterior

The sedan will sport a large front grille

The Volkswagen Virtus will feature a sculpted hood, a sloping roofline, a large front grille with a chrome finish, a wide air dam, and sleek LED headlights.On the sides, it will sport blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, and designer alloy wheels.The rear section of the sedan will be graced by wrap-around LED taillamps and a roof-mounted antenna.

It will be offered in two petrol engine options

The standard Virtus will be powered by a 115hp, 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol motor, while the GT Line model will run on a 148hp, 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Volkswagen Virtus: Pricing and availability

Volkswagen will disclose the official pricing and availability details of the Virtus sedan at the time of its launch. However, we expect the line-up to start at around Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

The car will have a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system

The Volkswagen Virtus will feature a cabin with leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and wireless charging.It will pack a digital instrument cluster and a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.For safety, the sedan will have six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and parking sensors.
